Picture perfect? I think not.

I love decorating and design magazines. (Love might even be an understatement). And I do read the articles – eventually- but it is of course the esthetic visual stimulation that I’m after first and foremost. Though you might agree with me that sometimes it can be too perfect, and you have to wonder if people actually live in those spaces. Don’t get me wrong, I realize it has been staged to the nines, but still. That’s why I prefer a casual, elegant look with lots of personality in the mix. A design that does not look like it comes straight from a showroom floor but instead reflects it’s owner. When creating beautiful spaces I think one should always remember the words from the Leonard Cowen song: “there is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in”, and then try your best to make it look fantastic without being picture perfect!
